Erosion of Surfside, Quintana, and Bryan Beaches
Over the past 60 years, Quintana and Surfside beaches have eroded at average rates of up to 17 ft/yr. Although Bryan beach grew immediately following the 1929 Brazos diversion, more recently the beach has been eroding at a rate of up to 27 ft/yr as the old Brazos sediments continue to be transported SW by prevailing longshore currents.
